I asked my friend Bob, 'What makes a great song?' He said simply, 'It tells the truth!” |
There is a certain sense in which every day is a candidate for a song.
You start out when you awake, and the day is like a blank sheet of paper, and you're holding the pencil. Make sure it has an eraser, because you're going to want to make some changes along the way. You might change your mind - or, if you're lucky, something might change you! Because the song you write today may or may not change the world, but it's almost certain to change you. And if you can't find the words this day, do some mining and go find some that someone else has shared. It's a great thing to find a song like that. But at the end of the day, have a song in your heart and on your lips that will make you say, "Amen!" Because what's the thing that makes a great song? It tells the truth. Amen? Amen! |
